Swimming lessons are provided by local swimming pools, both those run by the local authorities and by private leisure companies or health centres.   Many schools also include swimming lessons as part of their physical education.

Swimming lessons can occur either in the schools' own pool, or in the nearest public pool.  In some countries, swimming lessons are a compulsory part of the educational curriculum

Swimming lessons are a great way to build up your confidence in the water improve your technique and performance.   Many children as early as their toddler years learn swimming.  This immersion in water at this stage allows them to learn this life skill at an early age and build their confidence in water.

Swimming lessons can either be learned in a class or with a private swim coach.   Your preference will depend on your age, your level, your fitness goal and your anxiety in water.

For many the fear of the water holds them back and restricts their ability to learn to swim.   This can be overcome with a good swim coach or swim instructor.  You may wish to have private swim lessons or one to one instructions until you overcome you fear and anxiety in the water.
