Detailed Description

Turbo Trainer Cycle Training

Do you find it hard to stay on a turbo trainer for longer than ten minutes? Are you one of those people who thinks turbo is boring?! Well then you’re doing it wrong!!

To cater to all those people who ask how Rob and Aisling can stand to do 6 hour turbo sessions, we are happy to announce that our Monday night turbo sessions will kick off on March 4th. Don’t worry though, we won’t be kicking off with a 6 hour session just yet.

The classes will ultimately be 2 hour sessions with an option to finish after one hour so it will be suitable for all levels regardless of your ability. If you’re a complete beginner this will be an ideal starting place. If you’re an experienced ironman/woman it’ll be a great compliment to your winter training.

Here’s the science bit.........................

What is turbo training?

‘’A trainer, or turbo trainer, is a piece of equipment that makes it possible to ride a bicycle while it remains stationary.  They are commonly used to train for races, or when riding conditions outside are not favorable.’’

When are the classes?

The classes are every Monday evening from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, starting on January 7th.

Where are they held?

The classes are held in Wheelworx in Fonthill Retail Park. A map is available here.

How much do the classes cost?

The 8 week course is €80 if you bring your own turbo trainer. If you need to use on of our turbo trainers it will cost €100 for the 8 weeks.

Do I need my own turbo trainer?

Nope, you can rent from us for €100 for the 8 week course.

Do I need my own turbo training wheel?

Yes, if you want to reduce excessive wear on your rear tyre you will need to have a turbo training wheel. Our rental now only covers the turbo trainer and not the wheel, but they are available to buy from €110.

Do I need my own bike?

Yes, you do need to bring your own bike.

What else do I need to bring?

Your bike, of course.
2 large towels. One to go on the floor, and one to cover the bike and wipe your face with.
Warm dry clothing for afterwards. You’ll be warm enough during the session, but it’s important to keep warm after.
Cycling shorts or tri shorts.
Bike shoes.
A stop watch is useful but not essential.

Can I just do one or two classes?

You need to sign up for a 8 week course, and can not just pay for individual classes. Unfortunately this is the only way that we can manage numbers and guarantee that everyone who has booked gets a place every week.

How do I sign up?

Just select the option for “Have own trainer” or “Trainer required” above and add the product to your cart. Go to the checkout as if buying a product and complete your order.

How many weeks will the classes go on for?

Each course is 8 weeks. At the end of the 8 week period, we will open registration for the next term.
